The ASP Sporting Clays League is a league designed for both new and experienced shooters.

​

Shoot on your schedule, compete within fair divisions, and finish the season with a championship where anyone can win.​

​

Prefer shooting with friends? An optional team component allows groups to compete for team awards—without complicating individual scoring.

QUICK OVERVIEW
  • Individual League + Team option (3-5 shooters)
  • 9 Rounds Total - Rounds must be completed between May 28 and August 13

    • 8 regular season (50 birds/round)

    • 1 championship (100 bird round on 8/29)

LEAGUE DATES

League Opens: Thursday, May 28, 2026

League Rounds Deadline: Thursday, August 13, 2026

Championship & Season Finale: Saturday, August 29, 2026

All regular-season rounds must be completed by end of day August 13 to qualify for the championship and awards.

LEAGUE FORMAT
  • 9-round league total

  • Rounds 1–8: Regular season

    • 50 targets per round

      • 4 rounds on Gold Course​

      • 4 rounds on Black Course

    • Shoot any time ASP is open

    • Rounds must be completed between May 28 and August 13

    • Shooters may shoot ahead, but may not shoot behind

  • Round 9: Championship round

    • 100 targets

    • One-day event on August 29

Scratch scoring throughout the season.

CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND (August 29)
  • One-day, 100-target championship

  • All shooters compete together, regardless of division

  • Highest score wins

  • Tournament crowns the League Champion

  • Grilled brats, cold drink and awards presented the same day

  • Casual, social, and no separate banquet.

On championship day, any shooter can win.

DIVISIONS

Divisions are used to keep competition fair and are set after the first two rounds.

Depending on participation numbers, divisions may include:

  • Premier

  • Competitive

  • Challenger

Divisions are based on performance — not self-selection.

SCORING INTEGRITY

This league operates on an honor system supported by peer accountability.

  • Shooters must shoot with at least one other person

  • Playing partners verify each other’s scores

  • Verified scorecards are required for league scoring​​

INDIVIDUAL COMPETITION

All shooters are automatically entered into individual standings.

  • Rounds 1–8 determine division placement and standings

  • Championship Day determines the League Champion

  • All divisions compete together on Championship Day

Anyone can win on August 29.

TEAM COMPETITION (OPTIONAL)
  • Teams consist of 3–5 shooters

  • Team participation is optional

  • Shooters may compete on one team only

  • Teams must be declared at registration

  • No roster changes once league begins

  • Team scores use the top 3 individual scores per round

  • Team standings are based on Rounds 1–8 only

  • Championship scores do not count toward team standings

LEAGUE FEE & COSTS
  • League Fee: $25 per shooter (League fee only — targets are paid separately)

  • 100% of league fees are returned to shooters as prizes and awards

  • Membership target benefits apply as normal

AWARDS & PRIZES

Awards may include:

  • Division Champions (as applicable)

  • Most Improved Shooter

  • League Champion (Championship Round winner)

All league fees are paid back to shooters through prizes and awards.​

RULES
  • Must use official league scorecards

  • Must shoot the course as outlined on the scorecard

  • First bird is established on a report pair when the second target is a "no-bird"

  • Only 2 shots allowed at any given pair

  • All shotgun ammunition must be clay target loads - 7.5, 8, or 9 shot.

Membership
You do not need to be a member to shoot at ASP or join our leagues, but if you are going to shoot more than just a few rounds, membership is well worth it.
